New IBC
2000 and what it means to mezzanine construction
- If you're
thinking about adding a mezzanine to your warehouse/plant, you need
to know about these new guidelines:
- Mezzanines
no longer can be just engineered for vertical (gravity) loads. Engineering
a design which accommodates horizontal (lateral) load strength, stiffness
and ductility will be required for all mezzanine structures to be in
compliance with the IBC.
- Everywhere
is now seismic to some degree. In other words, ground motion and its
effect on mezzanine design is now a consideration in areas where previously
it was not.
- Better
trained and probably more conscientious building inspectors.
- More requirements
for structural calculations as part of the permitting process.
- More structural
calculation scrutiny for lateral load resistance.
We have mezzanines
that fit your needs. Give us a call today and our material handling systems
professionals can help you and make sure you are within code.
