Over Dock Rack
Over dock racking takes your empty or loose pallets cluttering your loading docks and stores them over the dock doors.
Over dock racking is used to store lighter loads, empty pallets, or packaging materials in the space over dock doors for a more organized dock area. Don’t let this space go to waste! Not only can over dock rack help warehouse/logistics managers and shipping/receiving supervisors put more product in their warehouse without a bigger building, but it also enhances safety, aesthetics and operational efficiency.
Steel King offers two unique designs to ensure maximized space utilization including the single-leg design and ceiling-supported design:
- A single-leg over dock rack design allows clearance for forklift traffic, while adding no load to the building’s roof structure. Wall ties need to be secured to a solid, concrete type wall. A sheet metal walled building would not work for this type of installation.
- A ceiling-supported over dock rack design is suitable for buildings of any wall type and provides maximum clearance for forklifts. There are no lower legs to interfere with forklift traffic, and rack frames are bolted or welded to the roof trusses of the building. This configuration, however, must be designed in conjunction with the building architect, who must verify the building’s ability to support the additional weight of the rack and pallets.
