Vertical Storage Systems
A vertical storage system is an automated storage & retrieval solution that allows order picking by a push of a button or scan of a barcode.
Vertical storage systems improve the performance of your warehouse, security of your inventory, as well as the efficiency & flexibility of order picking processes, within a minimum amount of floor space. Many companies choose to install vertical storage systems vs expansion or relocation when running out of space.
Vertical storage systems can be separated into two groups: carousels (ferris wheel technology) & vertical lift modules (VLM).
- Vertical carousels have fixed carriers, which are generally better for storing large numbers of like sized items.
- Vertical lift modules store items in front and back trays that are
accessed by a center extractor to retrieve and put away the pans.
Both types of vertical storage systems bring the goods to the person at an ergonomically positioned removal location. This provides a safer work environment for employees.
Vertical storage systems are built quite high to maximize the available overhead space in your facility, freeing up valuable floor space. Multiple units can be placed in “pods” where an operator can retrieve items from one unit while the other units are moving simultaneously, enhancing timing & efficiency.
We can perform surveys of your facility and storage processes to provide recommendations on which vertical storage system best suits your specific application. Let us help maximize storage space. Schedule a Survey Today!
